A Course in Miracles

At first glance, A Course in Miracles* (ACIM) is a thick, blue book. Its genesis is unusual. It is also astonishing that the original English version is written over many hundreds of pages in Shakespearean verse.

Many who have read the Course say that if they had to choose one of all the books in the world, they would choose the Course. Well over 3 million people worldwide have come into contact with this teaching since the Course was written down more than 50 years ago. But all this becomes secondary when someone truly realises what this teaching really is: a self-study programme to remember WHO they really are. How is this possible? By clearing away everything that obscures this memory: beliefs and thought patterns based on guilt, old grievances, hatred, and fearful thoughts and images. The Course calls this process ‘forgiveness’.

What do miracles have to do with it?

Our true home an our unified Identity in God, the Source, are not in another place, or at another time. They are everywhere and always. They are here and now.

“God goes with me wherever I go.” Lesson 41.

Are we aware of this? Well, most of the time, we certainly aren’t. We have put blocks in front of our awareness of unity. Miracles remove these blocks and remind us of our oneness in Spirit – and that everything is given to us. This is an experience, a new perception.

“Miracles restore the mind to its fullness. By atoning for lack they establish perfect protection. The spirit’s strength leaves no room for intrusions.” Principles of Miracles, No. 34

Since we have free will, it is up to us to choose to focus on miracles – or on their apparent absence and our apparent separation from our Source.

So this is a course on how to open our eyes to the truth again and awaken from our sleep. The Course calls it ‘forgiveness’, others call it ‘coming alive’. The Festival is dedicated to this purpose.
